Table Leveling, when you engrave, do you cut a proper depth in some areas but hardly scratch the surface in others? Chances are that your table is not level. Most tables are out of level from between .006" to .025". Even with a nose, variations of greater than .020" are hard to be compensate for. The more your table is out of level, more compression is necessary to achieve consistent engraving depth.
